Background

As part of its expansion drive, Malawi Fertilizer company as a subsidiary of Farmers World Holdings, wishes to recruit suitably qualified person to fill the following existing vacancy, which is tenable at its Malawi Fertilizer Company in Lilongwe.

Position Purpose

Responsible for conducting industrial engineering studies to improve production processes and increase efficiency. An analytical problem-solver with a passion for improving processes and systems.

Main duties

  • Conduct detailed time and motion studies on various production processes
  • Analyse workflow patterns and identify bottlenecks
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data
  • Document and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Design and refine work methods to enhance productivity
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes
  • Train staff on new processes and methodologies
  • Utilize software tools for data collection and analysis
  • Review and update time study processes regularly
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed changes
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure efficiency improvements
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams

Desirable Qualifications, Work experience and Personal Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related field
  • Experience with time and motion study techniques
  • Proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, Excel)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Good understanding of a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Proven track record of process improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with time and motion study methodologies
  • Proficiency in using data collection and analysis tools
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
