Background
Solar Ku Midzi is seeking a skilled, hardworking, reliable, and honest Accounting Manager to manage the financial accounts of two sister organizations:
Kachione LLC – a sole proprietorship with 11 staff members
Affordable Solar for Villagers (AS4V) – a Malawi-based NGO with 1 staff member
Kachione receives solar products funded by international donors, pays customs duties, and manages storage, protection, and assembly of inventory before distribution by Rachel & Christina Solar Devices to fifteen women-led village solar shops across Malawi. Products are sold at subsidized prices to cover in-country costs.
AS4V administers related research, documentation, and training programs and seeks import tax exemptions from MRA to reduce costs for village customers.

Accounting Management Responsibilities (Both Organizations)
Ensure all transactions are recorded with appropriate and correct receipts.
Organize, name, and file all receipts online.
Ensure all inventory is properly tracked and accounted for in collaboration with Kachione’s Operations Manager and Bookkeeper.
Supervise Kachione’s Bookkeeper/Office Manager.
Collaborate with donors’ accountant(s).
Enter all financial transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO) on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Ensure monthly staff salaries and commissions, utilities, PAYE, WHT, and other recurring costs are correctly documented and paid promptly.
Prepare monthly cash projections for three, six, and twelve months, considering inflation and sales seasonality.
Assist the President of Kachione, the Executive Director of AS4V, and key Solar4Africa donor representatives by providing cash projections and monthly financial reports while fostering transparency and accuracy.
Maintain QBO records at all times and ensure readiness for an independent certified audit at the end of each year, including providing all requested information to auditors.
Working Conditions
Full-time position, minimum of 40 hours per week
Occasional overtime required
National holidays observed
Office located in Njamba, Blantyre
Monday to Friday daily office attendance required
Lunch provided every workday
Required Qualifications and Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum of 1 year relevant finance or accounting experience
ICAM Diploma acceptable with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Proficiency in accounting software, especially QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
High integrity, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
Effective communication skills in English and Chichewa, with strong interpersonal abilities
Remuneration / Salary
Net Pay (After PAYE):
MWK 605,000 – 815,000 per month
Gross Pay (Including PAYE):
MWK 775,000 – 1,075,000 per month
Starting salary will depend on certifications, experience, and other qualifications.
Additional Benefits and Conditions
Cost of Living Adjustments applied every six months (Accounting Manager will also apply adjustments for all staff)
Continuing accounting education is allowed and encouraged
Three-month probation period
Salary increase for extraordinary performance may be considered after one year
