Overview

Kaso SACCO is a member-owned and democratically controlled financial cooperative society dedicated to providing quality and affordable financial services to its members. We are currently seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant, based in Lilongwe.

Key Responsibilities

The Accountant will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for the day-today coordination of the SACCO’s finance and accounting operations. Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing accurate and timely financial and management reports and statements.
  • Ensuring all SACCO accounts, including member accounts and the General Ledger, are reconciled monthly.
  • Managing the SACCO’s cash flow, including daily bank balance monitoring and payments.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory, legal, and regulatory requirements, and submitting timely returns to regulators (e.g., RBM and MUSCCO).
  • Coordinating the budget preparation, implementation, and control processes, including variance analysis.
  • Facilitating year-end audits and coordinating the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Ensuring accurate payroll processing and administration of employee benefits.
  • Safeguarding the SACCO’s assets and maintaining a proper fixed assets register.

QUALIFICATION

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a reputable institution.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience, preferably in a SACCO or other financial institution.
  • Experience with the MFI Hub system will be an added advantage.
