About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, and experience working with financial systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and effective financial management.

Job Description

  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of all financial transactions into SAGE on a daily basis (including bank transactions, VAT, foreign payments, and journals).
  • Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, and payment preparation.
  • Reconcile foreign payables and calculate exchange gains or losses on payments.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of statutory obligations such as VAT, PAYE, pensions, and corporate taxes.
  • Produce daily banking and sales reports for management review.
  • Perform daily cash ups with the cashier.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and process depreciation journals.
  • Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and responding to audit queries.
  • Oversee petty cash management and ensure proper authorization and recording of expenses.
  • Assist in payroll-related accounting entries and employee transaction postings.
  • Ensure proper filing, record keeping, and communication of financial matters.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and statutory compliance

  • Audit background / experience
  • Proven experience using SAGE accounting systems and QuickBooks
