In pursuit of sustained growth, enhanced financial resilience, and regulatory excellence, the company seeks to appoint a technically accomplished and commercially astute Actuarial Manager to strengthen the Company’s actuarial leadership capacity.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Actuarial Manager will serve as the principal actuarial authority within the organisation, providing strategic, financial, and risk-based insights to Executive Management and the Board. The role is central to ensuring the integrity of actuarial valuations, the sustainability of product offerings, and compliance with evolving regulatory and financial reporting standards, including IFS 17. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving actuarial excellence across product development, pricing, valuation, financial reporting, and enterprise risk management, while ensuring alignment with the Company’s long-term strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic actuarial leadership.
- Lead the actuarial valuation process.
- Conduct and oversee experience investigations.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen actuarial models and governance frameworks.
- Provide insightful actuarial analysis to Executive Management and the Board, converting complex technical outputs into clear strategic recommendations that support growth, profitability, and sound decision-making.
- Ensure full compliance with IFS 17, local insurance legislation, pension regulations, taxation requirements, and all other relevant statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Support capital and financial management initiatives, including solvency monitoring, embedded value analysis, stress testing, reinsurance optimisation, and long-term business planning.
- Prepare and present high-quality actuarial, financial, and statutory reports for Management, the Board, shareholders, auditors, and regulatory authorities within agreed timelines.
- Serve as the principal actuarial liaison with external Consulting Actuaries, auditors, reinsurers, pension trustees, and the Regulatory Authority on all technical and compliance matters.
- Lead, coach, and develop actuarial functions, fostering technical excellence, succession planning, collaboration, and a high-performance culture across the organisation.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in actuarial systems
- Contribute to enterprise risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Active progression toward a recognised actuarial qualification (e.g., |FoA, SOA, ASSA), with a minimum of ten (10) examinations completed.
- At least five (5) years’ relevant experience within a life assurance or financial services environment.
- Demonstrable expertise in IFS 17 and actuarial valuation methodologies.
- Advanced actuarial modelling and analytical capability, including strong proficiency in Excel and VBA.
- Proven leadership and team development experience.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding environment.
- Provide strategic actuarial leadership.
