Stimuli PR is seeking a talented, experienced, and highly creative Art Director to join our Malawi office in Lilongwe.

The ideal candidate will be a strong conceptual thinker with the ability to translate brand strategies and client briefs into compelling visual ideas across digital, print, social media, advertising, brand campaigns, and marketing communication platforms.

This role is suitable for someone who is hands-on, highly creative, and confident in taking ownership of the visual direction and design output for the agency. While the role will not involve supervising a team at this stage, the successful candidate will serve as the main designer and creative lead within the agency, working closely with copywriters, strategists, account teams, and clients to deliver high-quality creative work that is relevant, impactful, and commercially effective.

Responsibilities or duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strong visual concepts and creative ideas for client campaigns, brand activations, digital content, advertising materials, presentations, and other marketing communication assets.
  • Take ownership of the visual direction of projects from concept through to final execution.
  • Translate client briefs, brand strategies, and campaign objectives into compelling creative designs.
  • Create polished layouts and design materials for both digital and print platforms.
  • Ensure all creative work is aligned with client briefs, brand guidelines, campaign objectives, and market expectations.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for campaigns and client projects.
  • Prepare design options, mock-ups, presentations, and final artwork for internal review and client approval.
  • Work closely with copywriters, strategists, account teams, and clients to develop creative work that is both visually appealing and strategically sound.
  • Manage multiple design tasks and projects while meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Stay updated on design trends, advertising trends, digital content formats, and creative best practices.
  • Support the agency in building a strong creative standard as the main designer within the team.

Qualifications or requirements 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Art Director, Senior Designer, Graphic Designer, or similar creative role within an advertising, communications, digital, or marketing agency environment.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating campaign development, brand identity work, layout design, digital content, and advertising concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Experience designing for digital, print, social media, advertising, presentations, and campaign materials.
  • Ability to interpret creative briefs, manage multiple projects, and work under pressure.
  • Experience in motion graphics, video direction, photography, or social media content development will be an added advantage.

  • Ability to work independently as the main designer within the agency.
