JOB OVERVIEW
The Assistant Accountant will support the school’s financial management by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring smooth day-to-day financial operations while preparing financial information for reporting and auditing.
THE ROLE
- Prepare and process staff salaries.
- Make timely payments to suppliers.
- Assist in managing the school’s approved budget and expenditure.
- Prepare financial reports for external audits.
- Support the development of the school’s financial strategies.
- Issue official receipts.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, including taxation and auditing requirements.
- Maintain proper filing of accounting records and electronic databases.
- Attend school management meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with Credit passes in Mathematics and English.
- Diploma in Accounting or Finance from a recognized institution.
- Previous experience in a similar position will be an added advantage.
- Must possess a valid National ID.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Accuracy and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
