Background
Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences (ECOHS), established in 1946 is a constituent college of the University of Livingstonia and a member institution of the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). The College is owned by the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia and is committed to the training of competent healthcare professionals grounded in Christian values and guided by strong professional ethics. The College aims at providing a conducive teaching and learning environment that promotes excellence in health sciences education and contributes to the strengthening of Malawi’s healthcare system. To achieve this goal, ECOHS continuously strives to strengthen its academic and administrative structures in order to support effective service delivery and institutional growth. Therefore, the College wishes to fill the existing gaps and invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions.
Position: Assistant College Registrar – Academic
Grade: I (Government Scale)
Reports to: College Registrar
Contract Terms: Full time
Requirements
- Degree in Health with a bias in Education from a recognized University.
- Those with a Master’s Degree will have an added advantage.
- Registered with a relevant regulatory body.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
- A committed Christian.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To plan and coordinate curriculum development for all Programmes and courses at the College.
- To direct the implementation of regulations governing student’s admission requirements for all Programmes, ensuring that all the students admitted to various courses have the required qualifications set by the relevant regulatory bodies.
- To coordinate the implementation of all the approved academic policies and procedures
- To direct the safe custody of all documents and data relating to admissions, examinations and academic results.
- To oversee the preparation of timetables for teaching and examinations in different faculties.
- To coordinate timely preparation and setting of examinations.
- To direct compliance with approved schedules for setting and marking examinations and release of examination results.
- To coordinate the marking of examinations and marking arrangements to source for external examiners.
- To oversee mechanisms to ensure that there is no examination leakages.
- To coordinate and ensure that the results are approved before they are released.
- To manage and maintain data bank of all students examination results
- To organize and coordinate the students alumni
- To participate in the organization and coordination of graduation ceremonies.
- To support in the Academic staff performance appraisal
- To advise the Dean of Academics and College Registrar on all cases of impropriety that may include fraud dishonest, dishonorable or scandalous cases for an appropriate action
