Overview
Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute is a Catholic institution run by the Salesians Community of the Catholic Church. The institute is committed to providing quality Technical Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) for marginalized youths in Malawi. It is located in Area 23, Tsabango, Lilongwe.
As the institute continues to grow, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position:
Position
Automobile Mechanic Instructor (2)
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (Two Years)
Reporting To: Training Officer
Role Summary
The Automobile Mechanic Instructor will provide competency-based training in Motor Vehicle Mechanics and Automotive Technology. The successful candidates will equip trainees with the practical and theoretical competencies required by industry while ensuring compliance with TEVET standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Train students in vehicle maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, and transmissions.
- Conduct trainee assessments and maintain records of performance and progress.
- Ensure the effective utilization and maintenance of tools, equipment, and workshop resources in line with occupational health and safety standards.
- Provide coaching, counselling, and mentorship to trainees.
- Supervise students during industrial attachments and practical projects.
- Contribute to curriculum development and support departmental income-generating activities.
- Prepare departmental reports, inventories, and maintenance logs.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
TEVET Level 4 Certification in Automobile Mechanics.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and working knowledge of Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) will be an added advantage.
