About Kalibu Academy
Kalibu Academy is a prestigious, independent, co-educational school offering an excellent education based on the English National Curriculum from Primary, IGCSE, to A-LEVEL. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced School Matron to join our team beginning September 2026.
Role Summary
The School Matron will be responsible for promoting the health, safety, and welfare of students by providing first aid, managing the school sick bay, maintaining student health records, and supporting the physical and emotional well-being of learners. The Matron will work closely with school leadership, parents, and healthcare providers to ensure a healthy and safe school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff when required.
- Manage the school sick bay and ensure it is adequately stocked and maintained.
- Monitor the health and well-being of students and respond appropriately to medical concerns.
- Maintain accurate student medical records, incident reports, and medication logs.
- Administer medication in accordance with school policies and parental/medical authorization.
- Identify students requiring further medical attention and coordinate referrals to healthcare facilities where necessary.
- Support the implementation of school health, hygiene, and safeguarding policies.
- Promote health education and preventive care among students.
- Liaise with parents or guardians regarding students' health concerns and medical emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards within the school.
- Assist during school events, sports activities, educational trips, and emergencies by providing medical support.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and boarding staff (where applicable) to promote student welfare.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the School Administration.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, or a related health discipline from a recognized institution.
- Valid practicing license from the relevant professional regulatory body.
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) is an added advantage.
- Relevant experience in a school, hospital, clinic, or similar healthcare setting.
- Experience working with children and adolescents is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
