Oxfam is looking for Business Development Coordinator – Trusts, Foundations, Social Enterprises & Innovative Partnerships
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Philanthropic, Social Enterprise & Innovative Financing Strategy (15%)
The role provides strategic support for the development and implementation of a coherent regional engagement strategy for trusts, foundations, philanthropic actors, social enterprises, and innovative financing opportunities.
- Support the identification and definition of strategic priorities across philanthropic, social enterprise, and flexible funding landscapes.
- Ensure all engagement approaches align with SAF strategic priorities, programme objectives, localisation commitments, and Oxfam’s ethical standards.
- Monitor trends, donor shifts, emerging opportunities, and strategic risks within philanthropic and innovative financing ecosystems
Pipeline Development, Opportunity Management & Portfolio Growth (20%)
A core function of the role is leading the development and management of a strong, strategic, and diversified regional funding pipeline.
- Identify, track, assess, and prioritise opportunities across:
- Trust & Foundations
- Philanthropic network & Social enterprises
Partnership Design, Innovation & Proposal Development (15%)
The role supports the design of innovative, high-quality, and strategically relevant funding and partnership models.
- Facilitate the development of strategic partnership concepts, proposals, donor submissions, and innovative financing structures promote:
- Co-financing & Blended funding
- Social enterprise partnerships & Innovation-focused collaborations
- Ethical partnership frameworks & Risk management systems
Leadership of Philanthropic and Social Enterprise Business Development Function (15%)
The role provides functional leadership for Oxfam’s philanthropic and innovative financing architecture.
- Coordinate and strengthen focal points across thematic teams, countries, and support functions. Build internal capacity in:
- Philanthropic engagement & Social enterprise partnerships
- Flexible funding acquisition & Innovative financing models
Internal Coordination, Programme Integration & Systems Alignment (15%)
The role ensures strong internal coordination to maximise strategic funding opportunities and improve operational coherence.
- Connect country teams, thematic programme leads, partnerships teams, affiliates, and support functions around strategic opportunities.
- Reduce fragmentation and strengthen cross-functional communication.
- Ensure business development opportunities are integrated
Relationship Management, External Engagement & Strategic Representation (10%)
The role supports strategic relationship development across philanthropic and innovation ecosystems.
- Build and maintain relationships with Trusts
- Foundations & Social enterprises
- Innovation platforms & Philanthropic networks
Capacity Strengthening, Country Support & Systems Development (5%)
The role strengthens country and regional business development capability. Build capacity in:
- Proposal development & Philanthropic engagement
- Flexible funding strategies
- Social enterprise partnership models

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:
Essential
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, International Relations, Agricultural Economics, Social Work or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Philanthropic fundraising, Trust and foundation engagement, Social enterprise development, strategic partnerships, and business development.
- At least 2–3 years in a leadership or coordination, and or strategic management roles.
- Proven experience in social enterprise development, relationship management, and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong relationship management, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proven experience working with national or regional partners supporting programme implementation including working across multi-country or multi-stakeholder environment
- Ability to build strong, credible relationships with internal and external individuals and organisations
- Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English, with strong influencing and persuasive skills
- A high level of self-awareness, personal energy, stamina and flexibility.
- Proven experience as a team worker and demonstrably cooperative with members of other teams
- Commitment to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies to ensure all people who come into contact with Oxfam are as safe as possible.
