Background
The cashier is responsible for accurately processing financial transactions, handling cash and other forms of payment, and maintaining the high level of customer service. This role ensures efficient and secure management of cash handling processes, supporting the Assistant Accountant in maintaining financial integrity.
Duties and responsibilities
- Preparing payment vouchers and cheques
- Receiving payments and issuing receipts accordingly for accountability
- Banking cash and cheques
- Preparing banking summaries and file them accordingly for record keeping
- Accurately operate the cash register, manage cash float, and reconcile daily transactions.
- Ensuring timely banking and withdrawing of office cash
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries and resolving issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance to with financial policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Perform any such duties as may be assigned by the Accountant from time to time
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- Certificate in Accounting from an accredited institution
- 3-year experience in cash handling, accounting, or finance
- Proficient in financial software, Microsoft office and cash handling system
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy and organizational skills
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude, enhancing the customer experience and creating a welcoming environment
- Must be a committed Christian.
