Background
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is the governing body of football in Malawi and was founded in 1966 with its main mission of effectively organizing, administering, developing and controlling the game of football in consistent with FIFA rules and regulations in a manner that will continuously improve the standard of football in the country. FAM is affiliated to FIFA, CAF, COSAFA, and the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS). FAM manages all Malawi national Football, Beach, Futsal teams for both men and Women. FAM seeks to hire Chefs for the Luwinga Academy situated in Luwinga, Mzuzu.
Role Overview
The Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering nutritious, performance-enhancing meals for players, staff, and visitors at Luwinga Academy. The role ensures efficient kitchen operations, adherence to hygiene standards, and contributes directly to the health, fitness, and performance of the Academy’s athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Sports Nutrition & Meal Planning
- Design and prepare balanced menus tailored to athletes’ dietary needs.
- Provide meals that support training, recovery, and match-day performance.
- Collaborate with coaches and medical staff to align nutrition with fitness programs.
- Kitchen & Staff Management
- Supervise kitchen staff and allocate duties effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and dining facilities.
- Monitor stock levels and liaise with procurement for timely supply of fresh ingredients.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Maintain records of menus, supplies, and kitchen operations.
- Implement best practices in food storage, preparation, and waste management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Production, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Chef, preferably in sports institutions, schools, or hospitality.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, especially athlete-focused meal planning.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of service.
- Proficiency in modern kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
