Clinical Technician
Grade: K
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The general duties and responsibility of the job holder will include the following:-
- Making pre-operative assessment of patients.
- Ordering special tests for medication of patients before administering.
- Conducting anaesthesia on patients.
- Reporting condition charges of a patient to surgeon or relevant attendant.
- Managing fluid, electrolytes and acid/base disturbances.
- Shock management.
- Providing emergency anaesthesia in life saving surgeries.
- Training juniors in Anaesthesia procedures and in how to resuscitate patients and babies.
- Ensure correct anaesthesia complete recording of data in relevant HMIS registers and instruments.
- Ensuring timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders including timely submission of HMIS report to the designated supervisor.
- Performing routine monitoring of health indicators and using data in planning and management of health services.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution with a minimum of three years’ working in a primary health care setting
- Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi (MCM) with a valid practising licence
