About Nthowa Livelihoods
Nthowa Livelihoods (NL) is a registered, youth-led local non-governmental organization in Malawi committed to strengthening rural livelihoods. The organization advances this mission through climate-smart agriculture, environmental stewardship, youth empowerment, financial inclusion, health initiatives, and educational support. As part of its growth and expansion, Nthowa Livelihoods is seeking to recruit three (3) dedicated volunteers to support its programs and organizational development.
Purpose of the Role
The Communications Officer will support NL in raising awareness about our programs, engaging stakeholders, and documenting success stories. This role is key in enhancing the organization’s visibility and impact through digital and print media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage NL’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and update content regularly.
- Write success stories, newsletters, and other organizational content to showcase program impact.
- Develop and design basic communications materials (digital graphics, posters, presentations).
- Maintain media contacts and assist with external communications.
- Support the organization in branding and public engagement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Must have a degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- Must have a personal laptop and Smart Phones.
- Experience in social media management and digital communications.
- Strong writing skills, particularly in storytelling and reporting.
- Creativity and ability to produce engaging content.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Interest in community development, youth empowerment, and climate resilience.
