VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT COMPANY DOCTOR
Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company seeks qualified applicants for a Company Doctor position at its clinic at the Lilongwe Head Office on full time basis.
Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Company Doctor is a senior member of the management team responsible for providing comprehensive medical services to employees, ensuring the promotion of health and wellbeing, prevention of occupational illnesses and injuries, and compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care and medical consultations to employees.
- Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage occupational and general health conditions.
- Monitor and advise on workplace health risks and recommend preventive measures.
- Support implementation of workplace wellness programs.
- Collaborate with EHSQ and HR teams to ensure compliance with occupational health regulations.
- Manage work-related injuries and illnesses, including rehabilitation and return-to-work programs.
- Maintain accurate medical records and reports, ensuring confidentiality.
- Provide guidance on health education and awareness initiatives.
- Liaise with external healthcare providers, insurers, and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies
- Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or equivalent qualification.
- Current registration without restriction to practice medicine in Malawi or country of residence is required.
- Postgraduate training in in Occupational Health, Tropical Medicine, General Practice or Primary Care will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible clinical management experience in one of the areas of medicine.
- Experience in provision of comprehensive primary health care services and emergencies coverage, or corporate medical services is preferred.
- Knowledge in conducting preventive health and health promotion programmes, i.e., Hypertension and Diabetes monitoring and treatment, HIV/AIDS screening and treatment and screening for alcohol/ substance abuse.
- Experience managing workplace health and safety programs will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in working with people of different national and cultural background.
- Knowledge of and experience in clinical, occupational and tropical/travel medicine.
- Formal training in CPR and, preferably in BLS, ACLS and ITS or equivalent emergency medical care
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
