Responsibilities or duties

The Consumer Segment Manager shall be responsible for driving the commercial success, customer lifetime value (CLV), and market share of specific consumer segments within the mobile telecoms market. This role requires a strategic thinker who can analyze subscriber behavior, identify emerging trends, and translate data insights into compelling value propositions, tailored tariff structures, and targeted lifecycle campaigns.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Bachelor’s degree in IS, Business Administration, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

Experience needed

Minimum of 4 to 6 years of commercial experience within the telecommunications, FMCG, or digital services sector, with at least 2 years in a segment marketing, product management, or revenue management role.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in handling large customer datasets, segmentation models, and marketing analytics tools. Deep understanding of mobile telecoms pricing structures, data monetization, churn drivers, and customer lifetime value optimization. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Own the Profit and Loss (P&L) for assigned consumer segments, driving revenue growth, Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), and subscriber acquisition/retention targets.
  • Monitor competitor activities, market dynamics, and customer usage patterns to identify gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with product development, pricing, and core network teams to design relevant voice, data, digital, and mobile financial services (MFS) offerings tailored to segment needs.
  • Design end-to-end customer journey strategies from onboarding to retention, deploying data-driven micro-campaigns to maximize engagement and minimize churn.
  • Partner with trade marketing, digital channels, customer experience, and sales teams to ensure seamless go-to-market execution of segment campaigns.
