JOB DETAILS:

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for safely operating 55-ton mobile cranes to support equipment lifting, shifting, installation and maintenance activities. The role involves conducting pre-operation inspections of slings, limiters, braking systems and other critical crane components, coordinating closely with signalmen, and operating the crane in accordance with standard hand signals and established safety procedures. The position also requires maintaining daily inspection and operation logs, performing routine equipment maintenance, and supporting major lifting activities such as equipment overhauls, mill liner replacement and motor disassembly. The operator must immediately stop operations and report any abnormalities or equipment faults and must never operate faulty equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Malawi School Certificate of Education.
• Minimum of 3 years of crane operation; factory crane experience preferred.
• Proficient in mobile cranes; familiar with sling selection and inspection.
• Must hold a valid crane operator license (special operation certificate), within validity period.
• Strong safety awareness, focused; no acrophobia, heart disease or hypertension; adaptable to high-altitude and outdoor work.
• Good health and eyesight; willing to work overtime, shifts and emergency repair.
