Background

SME Clinic, on behalf of its client, a fully integrated multidisciplinary security and facilities management company, is recruiting a Debt Collection Officer.

The Debt Collection Officer will be responsible for leading debt collection processes within the company.

Main Responsibilities

Duties and essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Employing effective strategies to recover outstanding debts.
  • Communicating with clients to discuss repayment plans and negotiate settlements.
  • Communicating with clients to understand their financial situations and providing guidance and solutions to resolve outstanding debts.
  • Using strong negotiation skills to reach favourable agreements with clients while balancing the interests of both parties.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all communications and transactions related to debt collection.

The Ideal Candidate

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Accounting or its equivalent.

Experience Required

  • Applicants must possess: A minimum of five (5) years’ prior experience in a similar role within a busy and reputable organization.

Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency is a must.

Other Requirements

  • Must be at least 30 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s Licence issued by the Government of Malawi.
  • Must possess a National ID issued by the Government of Malawi.
