The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operations and Single Buyer in Malawi.
ESCOM Limited is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant Executive Management position:
Responsibilities or duties
Preparing Strategic Business Plans and budgets for Human Resources and Administration.
Ensuring that action plans are derived from the Corporation’s business plan.
Ensuring timely preparation of the operational and capital budgets.
Formulating Human Resource and Administration Policies and Strategies in order to ensure that the directorate contributes effectively and efficiently to the goals of the Corporation.
Implementing the approved Directorate Budgets prudently and in line with the Corporation’s policies and practices.
Conducting training needs analysis and developing training programmes for the Corporation.
Administering performance and reward management systems, processes and procedures for the Corporation.
Developing and maintaining a robust human resource management information system for the Corporation to inform Human Resources management decisions and practices.
Ensuring compliance with applicable Malawi Labour Laws and Good Human Resource Management Practices.
Conducting recruitments, performance counseling, and disciplinary enquiry hearings for the Corporation and providing professional Human Resources advice in all cases.
Preparing management reports on the performance of the human resource and administration functions.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
The ideal candidate for the position must:
- Have excellent People Management Skills
- Have thorough understanding of the Malawi Labour Laws
- Have excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and should be able to deal with a diverse workforce
- Be self-motivated and a team player
- Be of high integrity
Experience needed
The ideal candidate should have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, or Business Administration from a recognized and accredited University with a relevant Master’s degree from a recognized University.
Applicants must have ten (10) years’ experience of which at least five (5) years should be at senior management level.
Applicants with experience in the power supply industry will have an added advantage.

The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance-related contract for a period of three (3) years subject to renewal on satisfactory performance.
