The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Health. CMST is mandated to procure, store and distribute essential medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities in Malawi. CMST is seeking to recruit non-malawi and malawi nationals to support its mandate to support its establishments in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre as follows:
Driver
Job Grade: MS8
Location: Various Duty Stations
Responsible to: Assistant Administration Officer (MS6)
No. of Positions: 5
Purpose of the Job
To provide safe, reliable and efficient transport services for CMST personnel, goods and official correspondence while ensuring proper care, maintenance and security of assigned vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive officers of the Trust according to approved schedules and instructions.
- Deliver mail, documents and goods to authorised destinations.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and journey records.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections.
- Ensure roadworthiness, cleanliness and neatness of assigned vehicles.
- Report vehicle defects and maintenance requirements.
- Ensure timely servicing of vehicles.
- Ensure safety and security of assigned vehicles.
- Ensure safe transportation and delivery of goods and supplies.
- Undertake messenger and general administrative transport duties.
- Observe traffic laws, regulations and safe-driving standards.
- Monitor fuel usage and report irregularities.
- Assist with loading and offloading goods.
- Ensure emergency equipment and vehicle documentation are available and up to date.
- Support fleet-management activities.
Qualifications
- MSCE or equivalent.
- Valid CE driving licence with P, G and D categories.
- Defensive Driving Certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 5 years' progressive driving experience.
- No previous convictions relating to traffic offences.
- Mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.
- Experience driving a variety of articulated vehicles is desirable.
Skills
- High level of discipline, integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Ability and willingness to work long hours.
- Good personal presentation and customer-service orientation.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
