MANAD is a membership organization that advocates for the rights, inclusion, and empowerment of deaf people in Malawi. It promotes Malawi Sign Language and works to ensure equal access to  education, health, employment, justice, and social services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely transport staff, partners, and project participants across Malawi.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the assigned vehicle.
  • Complete vehicle logbooks and records accurately and on time.
  • Conduct routine vehicle checks and report mechanical faults.
  • Ensure passenger safety, including vulnerable persons.
  • Assist with basic communication support for deaf passengers when necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Valid driving licence (must remain valid beyond 2026).
  • Defensive Driving Licence required.
  • Proven ability to drive four-wheel vehicles and travel long distances across Malawi.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of disability issues, particularly deaf culture and communication needs.
  • Willingness to learn basic Malawi Sign Language and alternative communication methods to support deaf staff and beneficiaries, especially when sign language interpreters are unavailable.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to support routine vehicle maintenance and longevity.
  • Ability to maintain accurate vehicle logbook records.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to protecting passengers.
  • Strong integrity and reliability.
