Overview

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Public Service Pension Trust Fund (PSPTF) is an Institution that was established in compliance with the Pension Act (CAP 55:02) to oversee the administration of the Public Service Contributory Pension Scheme. The Fund is now inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant position of Driver that exist at the Secretariat Office. The successful candidates shall be appointed on contract renewable every 3 years upon successful performance.

Section: Human Resources and Administration

Location: Secretariat Office, Lilongwe

Reporting to: Human Resources and Administration Officer

Direct Supervisees: None

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The position holder will ensure the efficient and safe transportation of personnel, supporting the Fund’s operational and logistical needs. This role involves timely delivery and pickup, adherence to safety and regulatory standards, routine vehicle maintenance, and accurate documentation of transportation activities. By providing reliable and professional service, Drivers contribute to the smooth functioning of business operations and support the overall efficiency of the Fund.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driving members of staff and visitors as assigned
  • Ensuring that vehicles are kept clean
  • Maintaining logbook for the vehicle assigned
  • Delivering mail, packages from/to various offices and loading and off-loading official items picked.
  • Carrying out minor repairs on the vehicle assigned to him.
  • Reporting breakdowns and accidents
  • Ensuring that the Fund’s vehicle and its accessories are in a good and safe working condition before and after making any trip
  • Checking and advising on vehicles certification to ensure timely renewal
  • Consolidating and submitting monthly vehicles status report to supervisor

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Experience

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
  • Valid Driver’s licence and defensive driving
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in NGOs, Government or Private Sector

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge in motor vehicle mechanic
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to cope with pressure of work
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
