Background

Responsibilities
- Safely transport staff, equipment, and organizational property to designated locations as directed by management.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition (checking oil, coolant, brake fluid, tires, lights, etc.).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the vehicle logbook for all trips undertaken.
- Report immediately any accidents, mechanical issues, or security concerns to the supervisor.
- Ensure the safety, comfort, and security of passengers and cargo at all times.
- Adhere strictly to organizational policy on unauthorized passengers.
- VisionFund vehicles may be carried in uniform while on duty.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and coordinate servicing as needed.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of VisionFund’s mission.
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
- Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
- Valid Malawian driver’s license (Class B minimum; Class C an added advantage).
- Certificate in automotive maintenance or mechanics preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of road networks in Northern Region, particularly around Mzuzu and surrounding districts.
- Proficiency in English and Chichewa (written and spoken); strong communication and telephone etiquette.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully in a multicultural, values-driven environment.
- High sense of responsibility, punctuality, and commitment to safety and confidentiality.
- Basic familiarity with office equipment (telephone, photocopier) is an asset.
