Crossroads Hotels Blantyre is seeking an Electrician.

Responsibilities

• To personally provide extensive cover for guest and departmental emergency needs and liaise with management on cover arrangements outside of your working hours.
• To be fully responsible for maintenance stocks and spares ensuring cost effectiveness and security at all times.
• To apply an ‘old for new’ and comprehensive requisition system when co-ordinating replacement of plugs, globes etc.
• In liaison with Rooms Operations Manager ensure that adequate stocks of replacement items e.g. elements, globes etc are available at all times.
• To carry out daily maintenance repair duties as directed by management giving specific attention to items which involve guest service, care or comfort.
• To carry out daily maintenance check schedule on all essential plant and machinery and keep accurate records, reporting any deficiencies or defects to management.
• To co-ordinate on site repairs and refit works personally carrying out as much as possible to avoid non-essential recruitment of outside contractors.
• To make recommendations to management on recruitment of outside contractors to carry out repairs on site, at all times basing your recommendations on best and most cost effective service providers.
• To supervise all maintenance contractors who visit site to ensure best quality work, minimal disruption to operation and good working practices.
• To submit maintenance status reports and recommendations on special projects as directed by management.
• To be actively involved in the preparation of preventative maintenance programs and daily checking schedules.
• To carry out regular property checks to ensure best possible maintenance status at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
• Grade 1 Trade Test certificate or City and Guilds Part II in Electrical Engineering, CBET Level 3 (TEVETA Level 3 in Electrical Installation).
• A minimum of 2 years proven experience in electricity installation and maintenance service.
