Job Details
Position: Electrician
Locations: Lilongwe & Salima
Reporting To: Site Agent / Foreman
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, wiring, and related installations. The role requires ensuring all electrical works are carried out safely and in compliance with technical standards. The Electrician will perform fault finding, preventive maintenance, repairs, and new installations while ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical systems across the organization’s projects and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment.
- Conduct electrical fault finding, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Carry out electrical installations in accordance with safety standards.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems.
- Install and maintain lighting systems, sockets, switches, and electrical equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements and regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
- Trade Test Certificate Grade 1 or Grade 2 in the relevant field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ practical experience as an Electrician.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in construction or industrial projects will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong electrical installation and maintenance skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults.
- Good understanding of electrical safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
