Responsibilities

  • Teach Language Skills: Develop students' competencies in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English, covering grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  • Teach Literature: Introduce students to a range of literary texts (prose, poetry, and drama) from Malawi, Africa, and around the world, developing analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Develop Writing Skills: Guide students in writing essays, creative pieces, summaries, and formal letters, focusing on structure, style, and clarity.
  • Assess Student Progress: Set, administer, and mark tests and examinations, providing constructive feedback and preparing students for external assessments (e.g., MSCE, Cambridge).
  • Promote a Reading Culture: Encourage independent reading and foster a love for literature through book clubs, library visits, and reading challenges.
  • Support Communication Skills: Help students develop effective oral communication skills for presentations, debates, and everyday interactions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Education or related field
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience
  • Energetic retirees are encouraged to apply
