About Center for International Forestry Research – World Agroforestry (CIFOR–ICRAF)
CIFOR–ICRAF is an international research organization working to improve forestry, agroforestry, and sustainable land-use systems. The organization is implementing the Prioritizing Options for Women’s Empowerment and Resilience in Food Tree Value Chains (POWER) Project in Malawi.
The project focuses on strengthening gender-equitable development in the improved mango value chain, particularly in Kasungu and Mzimba districts, through training and capacity-building initiatives.
CIFOR–ICRAF is currently seeking Enumerators to support an endline evaluation study scheduled to begin on 23 March 2026.
Job Overview
Enumerators will assist with household data collection and field surveys as part of the POWER Project evaluation. The assignment will run for 11 days and will involve fieldwork across various regions in Malawi.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend training workshops prior to field deployment.
- Conduct household surveys using smartphones or tablets.
- Collect GPS coordinates and accurate field data.
- Record findings using digital data-collection tools.
- Upload daily survey data to the ICRAF online database.
- Participate in daily team review meetings.
- Ensure full coverage of assigned enumeration areas.
- Maintain data quality, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Report field challenges and provide feedback to supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Proven experience conducting household surveys (required).
- Experience using smartphones or tablets for digital data collection.
- Familiarity with online survey tools and GPS data collection.
- Knowledge of local languages and cultural contexts.
- Ownership of a smartphone compatible with SurveyCTO with good battery life and adequate storage.
- Understanding of research ethics and confidentiality standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to travel long distances within assigned areas.
- Availability for the entire survey period.
- High integrity, punctuality, and teamwork skills.
