Background Information

Grow Farms, based in Lilongwe, located at Nakwawa Trading Centre, about 23km from Gateway Mall, along Santhe Road, is a fast-paced integrated agricultural farm formed in 2020 to achieve commercialization in high value chains. The farm boasts of a Macademia orchard, Dairy farm and Poultry (Layers) farm. It is on a growth trajectory, developing new Macademia orchards, increasing the number of Dairy animals and increasing investment in Poultry farming. The farm is in the process of implementing drip irrigation systems for some of the Macademia orchards driven by the need to control water supply to trees and achieve optimum yields.

An opportunity has arisen at the position of Farm Manager to lead a highly motivated team and champion strategy formulation and implementation. This is a key position at the Farm and we require a visionary individual with proven leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for the position are:

  • Leads strategic planning and implementation to achieve diversification and increased revenue generation.
  • Identify efficiencies and synergies in how Macademia, Dairy and Poultry businesses can thrive together and consolidate growth for the Farm.
  • Ensure that resources are allocated based on well thought out assessments and cashflow planning to deliver savings and prioritized investing.
  • Anchor sound human capital development for the Farm’s going concern and succession planning.
  • Identify markets for farm products, assess their viability and implement revenue and cashflow generation strategies. The Manager will also develop a robust catalogue of customers through deliberate customer centric retention strategies.
  • Increase yields for Macademia, Dairy and Poultry through practical application of Minimum Agricultural Standards (MAS) and smart technologies for business sustainability.

Key Qualifications

We are looking for the following:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture from any recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience at a fast-paced farm managing Livestock and Plantation crops. A self-starter, motivated, ambitious and calculated risk taker able to live in a rural environment.
  • High integrity, analytical and able to work under pressure.
  • Leads strategic planning and implementation to achieve diversification and increased revenue generation.
  • Identify efficiencies and synergies in how Macademia, Dairy and Poultry businesses can thrive together and consolidate growth for the Farm.
