As part of its growth and expansion, Nthowa Livelihoods is seeking to recruit three (3) dedicated volunteers to support its programs and organizational development.
Field Officer (Volunteer) – 2 Positions
Organization: Nthowa Livelihoods (NL)
Duty Stations: Champhira (1 Position) and Luviri (1 Position), Mzimba South District
Reporting to: Executive Director / Program Coordinator
Contract: Volunteer (12 months, renewable based on performance and funding availability)
Position Summary
Field Officer (Volunteer) will support the implementation of community-based programs focused on climate-smart agriculture, irrigation farming, youth enterprise development, financial inclusion, market systems development, post-harvest management, and community resilience strengthening. The Field Officer will serve as the community focal person for Nthowa Livelihoods in the assigned area and work closely with youth groups, farmer clubs, schools, traditional leaders, and government extension officers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of climate-smart agriculture and irrigation farming activities.
- Facilitate youth group formation, community mobilization, and community trainings.
- Support market access and value chain development for farmer groups.
- Facilitate Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and financial literacy training.
- Promote post-harvest handling and agribusiness skills.
- Support environmental awareness, education activities, and youth leadership initiatives.
- Collect monitoring data and submit monthly activity reports.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must reside in Champhira and Luviri, Mzimba South District.
- Degree or Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Community Development, Environmental Studies, Education, or related field.
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and community development approaches.
- Strong community mobilization and facilitation skills.
- Basic report writing and data collection skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have a smartphone and laptop.
