The Catholic Development Desk of the Diocese of Karonga (Caritas Commission) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Field Officer. The role focuses on community mobilization and implementation of project activities related to sustainable natural resource management and livelihood improvement.
Responsibilities or duties
- Serve as the main link between district implementing structures, community project structures, and targeted communities
- Coordinate with the Programme Coordinator to ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of project activities
- Plan quarterly project activities, prepare budgets, and facilitate implementation
- Conduct project sensitization meetings, beneficiary registration, and support formation of community clubs
- Collaborate with government extension staff (Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, and Community Development) to mobilize communities
- Support the development and implementation of land use and watershed management plans
- Facilitate training of Lead Farmers, Village Agriculture Committees (VACs), and Village Natural Resources Management Committees (VNRMCs) in soil and water conservation techniques
- Mobilize communities to construct physical soil and water conservation structures and establish biological conservation measures
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Relevant qualification in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Management, Community Development, or a related field
- Strong facilitation, coordination, and community mobilization skills
- Ability to work independently in rural settings
- Good communication and reporting skills

Experience working with community-based projects and decentralized government structures
