Role Purpose
The Field Officer will be reporting to the Programs Coordinator. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day micro leadership and management of the program to have smooth project implementation in line with Rays of Hope policies and donor requirements in the designated program impact area.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Organize and facilitate teachers’ Continuous Professional Development (CDP) with a focus on teaching methods and content
- In collaboration with the project coordinator, provide technical support to the DEMO for the facilitation of reflection meetings with the teachers representing all the schools in the impact area.
- In collaboration with the project coordinator, organize and facilitate in-service training of teachers.
- Organize and facilitate training with a focus on Community Action Cycle as the tool to strengthen community participation.
- Drive school leadership refresher trainings on School Management issues with a focus on school Heads and Deputies.
- Create and coordinate Teacher Network Exchange activities involving all the schools in impact area.
- Empower learners to manage and lead Child Driven Clubs with substantial engagement of the community through Mother Groups and other existing structures.
- Strengthen teacher capacity through trainings, review meetings and mentoring.
- Conceptualize and coordinate Open Days paying attention to pre-open day event preparations such as communication, organization
- Coordinate the Learner Trucking Training involving the community with deliberate emphasis on Mother Groups and teacher aides as a tool to enforce accountability and transparency
- Reinforce the Child Driven Clubs through reflection meetings with substantial involvement of other key educational stakeholders in the impact area
- Maintain excellent working relationship with teachers, head teachers, Primary Education Advisors, and other community level stakeholders
- In collaboration with Primary Education Advisors, conduct routine supervision visits to the project impact area.
Oversight
The Field Officer shall have no supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a degree level qualification in education with experience in implementation and /or coordination of numeracy and literacy education programs
Other Essential Attributes
- At least three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in the field of Education, specifically, teaching in public primary schools.
• Skills in community mobilization, especially involvement of parents in supporting learning for their children, capacity building, and group facilitation
• Experience working with Nongovernmental organizations and government officials will be an added advantage.
• Willing and committed to work in challenging conditions, especially in the hardest to reach areas
• Good personal and organizational skills, including time management, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Excellent communication (written and oral communication) and interpersonal skills
• Ability and flexibility to work with a team
• Motorcycle license is a must
