Job Overview

The Financial Accountant will oversee the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions while supporting management in financial decision-making and compliance.

  • Reporting to: Managing Director
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Location: Nchalo, Malawi

The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions
  • Supervise junior accounting staff
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register
  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Manage payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and cash flow
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal audit requirements
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory obligations (PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.)
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost-efficiency
  • Provide financial performance reports to management
  • Support management in financial decision-making and policy formulation
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Managing Director

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Professional qualification (ICAM, ACCA, CIMA) is an added advantage
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ proven experience working as an Accountant
