About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Financial Director to join our team in Blantyre. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for coordinating and providing effective financial support services across the business. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all financial operations comply with local legislation and company policies, while actively driving business strategy and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Prepare and submit the region’s annual budget on time for Head Office approval, ensuring alignment with defined budget guidelines and principles.
  • Maintain expenditure within approved levels by strictly enforcing budgetary control procedures.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly forecasts to enable the proactive management of potential business risks.

Accounting & Administrative Control

  • Ensure accurate and timeous processing of decentralized accounting transactions using the G4S ERP system.
  • Maintain highly detailed and accurate records with all supporting source documentation.
  • Manage the regional Accounts Receivable function, applying effective credit control measures to maximize cash flow.
  • Analyze monthly accounts, review performance against budgets, identify trends, and highlight variances to provide accurate management information to the Managing Director.
  • Drive and implement effective cost-saving initiatives across the business.
  • Effectively coordinate all litigation, insurance, and other related claims.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage finance department personnel effectively through regular performance assessments.
  • Drive skills development and career path planning for subordinate staff to ensure a high-performing team.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Participate actively in the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of the branch, region, and national safety plans.
  • Attend and participate in safety forums, meetings, and talks, and report all safety incidents to the relevant personnel.
  • Discuss safety incidents at all levels and follow up on activities assigned through safety committees.
  • Comply strictly with safety policies, distribute safety information when required, and wear protective clothing at all times.
  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory obligations.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management or Accounting. A postgraduate degree is highly advantageous.
  • Must be a Qualified Chartered Accountant. For this specific role in Malawi, the successful candidate must be registered as a Chartered Accountant Malawi (CA(M)) and hold active membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) and the Malawi Accountants Board (MAB).

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malawian company law and local tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with security industry legislation and G4S Finance Policies and procedures is a strong advantage.
