GARDENER

Job Title: Gardener

Reports To: Facilities Manager / Maintenance Supervisor

Overall purpose of the job:

The School Gardener is responsible for maintaining and developing the school’s gardens and outdoor spaces, creating a safe, attractive, and educational environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain school gardens, lawns, trees, and landscaped areas.
• Plant, water, weed, prune, and fertilize flowers, shrubs, and vegetables.
• Ensure the garden and grounds are clean, safe, and well-presented at all times.
• Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment.
• Monitor plant health and control pests and diseases where necessary.
• Assist in developing garden projects that support environmental education.
• Work with teachers and students on gardening activities when required.
• Ensure proper storage and care of gardening supplies and equipment.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Report any hazards, damage, or maintenance issues to management.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of gardening, landscaping, and plant care.
• Ability to use gardening tools safely and effectively.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, especially when interacting with students and staff.
