This position will support WeForest’s Miombo Belt Regeneration Programme, which focuses on community-led forest conservation and sustainable livelihoods across Zambia, Malawi, and Tanzania.
JOB OVERVIEW
WeForest is seeking an experienced Grants and Partnerships Manager/Specialist to strengthen fundraising efforts, manage donor-funded projects, and build strategic partnerships that support the expansion of its forest restoration programmes.
The successful candidate will report to the Zambia Country Director with a functional reporting line to the Head of Philanthropy and Institutional Partnerships based in Brussels.
THE ROLE
- Develop and maintain a strong funding pipeline aligned with WeForest’s global strategy.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities from public donors, institutional funders, and philanthropic foundations.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with donors and consortium partners.
- Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals.
- Coordinate grant compliance, donor reporting, and stewardship activities.
- Manage narrative reporting and collaborate with finance teams on financial reporting.
- Represent WeForest at networking events and sector forums.
- Contribute to thought leadership and fundraising initiatives.
- Build fundraising capacity within country programme teams.
- Strengthen communication between programme teams and the Global Fundraising and Communications teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in International Development, Business Administration, Economics, Fundraising, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, grant management, or institutional partnerships.
- Experience working with public donors, EU funding, philanthropic foundations, and international development partners.
- Experience in environmental conservation and/or rural development.
- Knowledge of the Miombo biome will be an added advantage.
- Strong grant writing, donor reporting, and partnership management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, or similar applications.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
