Background
Visiting Companions Care Services (VCCS) is a compassionate and dedicated home care agency committed to enhancing the quality of life for our clients by enabling them to live safely and independently in their own homes. We value empathy, reliability, and professional excellence in our care team.
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dependable Home Caregivers to provide essential personal care and daily living assistance to our clients in Lilongwe. The ideal candidates will be a vital support system, offering not just physical assistance but also companionship and emotional support, ensuring our clients’ dignity, comfort, and well-being are always prioritized.
Home Caregivers will be hired on roster basis i.e. successful candidates will be added to a caregiver list; when work is available, VCCS will contact you to offer a job
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities may include some of the following:
Direct Client Care:
- Assist elderly clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting.
- Provide mobility assistance, including transfers, positioning, and ambulation. May include use of assistive equipment (with training).
- Assist with medication reminders (as per care plan and government regulations).
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to client dietary needs and preferences.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks related to client care such as laundry, changing bed linens, light cleaning of client’s living areas.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversation, activities, and hobbies.
Health & Safety:
- Monitor and report changes in client’s physical condition, behavior, or emotional state to the supervisor.
- Assist with prescribed range of motion exercises and other therapeutic tasks as directed.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments or on errands as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the client.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols.
Communication & Professionalism:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided and client status.
- Foster a positive and respectful relationship with the client and their family members.
- Uphold strict client confidentiality and privacy (Safeguarding Policy Compliance).
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.

Qualifications & Experience Required:
Required:
- Serving and retired nurses, nurse’s aides and special needs teachers
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to caregiving of non-health professional care to more rehabilitation focus.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check including police check.
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting (up to 10-15 kgs) and bending.
Preferred (but not required to apply):
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience with specific chronic or terminal conditions (e.g., Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Parkinson’s, Hospice care, Diabetes management).
