The Firm invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Human Resources Officer, based in Blantyre and Lilongwe offices.
Position Overview
The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for managing the Firm’s internal HR function while also providing professional HR-related support to audit and advisory engagements. Given the nature of an audit firm, the role requires high levels of integrity, confidentiality, technical awareness, and compliance with professional and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will, among other duties:
- Manage and coordinate the Firm’s human resource’s function, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, and staff welfare
- Ensure compliance with the Employment Act, Pension Act, and other relevant labour laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and personnel files
- Support partners and managers in workforce planning and talent development
- Provide recruitment support services to clients, including shortlisting, interview coordination, and advisory input where required
- Support audit teams by auditing payroll and human resources sections of audit engagements, including compliance with statutory deductions and employment contracts
- Assist in reviewing payroll systems, HR controls, and policies for audit and advisory purposes
- Coordinate disciplinary processes and employee relations matters in line with Firm policies
- Prepare HR reports and management information as required
Qualifications and Experience
- A Degree or Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
- 2 to 5 years’ relevant work experience, preferably within a professional services, audit, or consulting environment
- Practical knowledge of Malawi labour legislation and payroll-related statutory requirements
- Experience working in a multi-office or fast-paced professional environment will be an added advantage
Age Requirement
28 to 42 years

- Strong understanding of HR processes within a regulated or professional environment
- Good appreciation of audit, compliance, and control environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organisational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel occasionally between Blantyre and Lilongwe
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HR/payroll systems
