8. ICT Officer (Software Applications Specialist) - 3 Year Contract
The role involves providing technical support for computers, printers, networks, and other ICT equipment, as well as installing, configuring, and maintaining software, operating systems, and applications. It further includes supporting the university’s network infrastructure—covering internet, Wi-Fi, and internal systems—while monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring minimal downtime. The responsibilities also extend to maintaining ICT assets, inventories, and documentation, and assisting in the management of servers, databases and user accounts. The officer operates the student management system and ensures data security, regular backups, and compliance with existing policies, and provides training to staff and students on ICT tools and basic troubleshooting. Additionally, the role supports e-learning platforms, email systems, and university management systems, and contributes to ICT-related projects and system upgrades.
Qualifications and Experience:
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: computer science, software engineering, information technology management.
A minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience is required in information technology managementt and prior work experience in a higher education set up is an added advantage.
Proven experience in LAN/WAN and WLAN operations is required.
Proven server environment administration experience.
Experience with ICT services is required.
