MASM Medi-Clinics Ltd is one of the leading health care providers in Malawi with medical clinics in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Zomba, and Mzuzu. The Clinics serve both medically insured and non insured patients and clients. In an effort to strengthen its technical capacity the Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following vacant position:
Position Summary:
The ICT Officer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the clinic’s information and communication technology systems. This includes providing technical assistance to staff, managing and securing networks, maintaining software and applications, and ensuring data integrity and protection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Assist staff with troubleshooting hardware, software, printer, and network issues to ensure minimal disruption to clinic operations.
- User Training: Train staff on proper use of ICT systems and HMIS applications, ensuring efficient and secure system usage.
- System Maintenance: Update software, install security patches, and manage clinic-specific applications, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and other operational systems.
- Network Management: Monitor, maintain, and optimize internal networks and Wi-Fi systems to ensure stable connectivity and performance.
- Data Security: Implement and enforce measures to protect sensitive patient and clinic data, including regular backups, antivirus management, and access control.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of IT systems, network configurations, and technical support activities.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments to support ICT requirements and ensure smooth operation of all clinic technology systems.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
- Experience with system maintenance, software updates, and application support (experience with Health Management systems is an advantage).
- Knowledge of data security best practices and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to provide timely technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Attributes:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive approach to system improvements and IT problem-solving.
- Familiarity with ICT compliance and regulatory requirements in healthcare settings.
Qualifications and Competences:
- University Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized institution.
- 5 years’ experience in IT management, computer networks, network administration and network installation.
- Ability to present complex technical concepts in business language.
- Self-starter, motivated and steadfast.
- Good planning and organizing skills.
- Experience in the hospital sector is an added advantage.
