Job Overview

We are committed to building excellence in language assessment through the recruitment of qualified and motivated professionals to join our team of IELTS Examiners. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, secure, and fair English language assessments, supporting candidates in achieving their academic and professional goals.

Examiners are recruited on a casual basis and are expected to examine a minimum of ten sessions per year at regular intervals. IELTS examinations are conducted regularly across our locations in SSA. Successful shortlisted candidates will be required to complete mandatory training prior to commencing examining duties.

Role Purpose

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our team of IELTS Examiners. In this role, you will support the delivery of secure, fair, and reliable English language assessments, contributing to our commitment to excellence in language testing and ensuring candidates receive a high-quality examination experience.

Accountabilities

Examiners are expected to carry out all examining duties accurately and in sufficient detail, ensuring full compliance with assessment standards and procedures. They must strictly observe confidentiality and security requirements at all times, safeguarding candidate information and maintaining the integrity of the examination process. Examiners are also required to act professionally in all interactions and respond positively to guidance, feedback, and standardisation activities to ensure continuous quality and consistency.

In addition, Examiners must communicate clearly and effectively with both colleagues and candidates, fostering a respectful and supportive examination environment. They should demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and uphold inclusive practices, ensuring that all candidates are treated fairly and with dignity throughout the assessment process.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An undergraduate or Master’s degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate or Master’s degree.
  • A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or recognised equivalent as part of a recognised university award course.
  • At least 3 years’ full time (or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL teaching experience (minimum one year post-certificate level qualification). The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).

Salary and Benefits

Attractive salary and benefits will be offered to the deserving candidate. Examiners will be remunerated on a fee-per-candidate basis, with payment made according to the number of candidates examined per session.

Other Information

Examiners are required to adhere to a Code of Practice and Confidentiality Undertaking and follow all directives from the Centre Administrator and Life Skills Examiner Trainer. Information will be provided to applicants once recruitment and training have been completed.

Proof of Identity requirements/right to work in country: Candidates are expected to have researched whether they have the right to live and work in the country in which the role is based. The work visa/permit will not be provided for this role
