Location: Balaka, Malawi

Position Summary

The IT Trainer will be responsible for delivering engaging, practical, and learner-centered digital literacy training to participants at the Pathway Centre. The role focuses on equipping young women with essential computer skills, digital communication competencies, and online workplace readiness that will enable them to access further education, employment, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities.

The successful candidate will create an inclusive learning environment where participants build confidence in using technology while maintaining high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, and learner support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical training in computer literacy, including keyboard skills, file management, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet navigation.
  • Introduce learners to cloud-based tools and digital productivity platforms where appropriate.
  • Deliver lessons using participatory and learner-centered teaching methods.
  • Adapt training approaches to accommodate learners with varying levels of digital experience.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma Education, Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field plus other two teaching subjects.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in IT training, facilitation, digital literacy instruction, or technical support.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, internet technologies, and basic computer troubleshooting.
  • Experience delivering training to youth, beginners, or adult learners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chichewa.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within a non-governmental organization, educational institution, or youth development Programme.
  • Experience supporting online job, scholarship, or college applications.
  • Knowledge of emerging digital learning tools and online collaboration platforms.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • A passion for empowering young women through technology and education.
