Background

PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing heath challenges.

The Digital Health Division (DHD) of the Ministry of Health leads the implementation, management, and support of national digital health systems. The division oversees the Medical Equipment Management Information System (MEMIS), which supports the registration, maintenance, tracking, and management of medical equipment across health facilities nationwide. The team works closely with facilities, districts, and regional maintenance units to ensure effective system utilization, data quality, and continuous system improvement.

The intern will support the national rollout and operationalization of MEMIS by providing Level 1 and Level 2 user support to health facilities. The project includes managing user support requests, maintaining support documentation, assisting with user onboarding and refresher trainings, tracking recurring user challenges, and contributing to improved system adoption and user satisfaction across the country.

The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting a nationally deployed digital health system, exposure to health informatics and health systems strengthening, practical skills in helpdesk management, user support, training facilitation, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and problem resolution. The internship will also provide opportunities to work with Ministry of Health digital health professionals and build experience relevant to careers in ICT, Health Informatics, Malawi Healthcare Information System (MaHIS), Information Systems, and Digital Health.

  • Provide first-line support to MEMIS users.
  • Respond to user inquiries and troubleshoot access and navigation issues.
  • Log, categorize, and track support requests through the MOH helpdesk.
  • Assist with workflow-related support issues and data correction requests.
  • Support user onboarding and refresher trainings.
  • Develop and update FAQs, user guides, and support documentation.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to learn.
  • Degree or final-year student in ICT, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
