OVERVIEW

Microloan Foundation (Malawi) Limited is a premier microfinance institution which provides financial services and training support to help women set up and manage sustainable businesses in their communities. We are currently seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to assist with driving the balanced growth of our portfolio of borrowing customers at various branches in the Northern, Central and Southern Regions of Malawi. The position is tenable at the Head Office in Lilongwe.

OVERVIEW

Are you a recent graduate or a young professional looking to kickstart your career in sales and marketing? Do you have a passion for women empowerment? If so, you are the one we seek to join our team as an Intern Client Officer for 6 months in the following districts: Zomba, Dedza, Blantyre, Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Rumphi, Dowa and Salima.

This is an opportunity to acquire skills in microlending and open your avenues to various career destinations in the microfinance sector. You will be locally placed in the assigned branch where you will report to the Branch Manager and be supported by our best performing Client Officers for on-the-job training. Based on performance and upon successful completion of the internship, you could be considered for a full-time role of Client Officer, subject to availability of vacancies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying and contacting potential clients.
  • Maximise the visibility of the Microloan brand by actively and positively promoting the company in the communities where the branch operates.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Provide financial literacy training, basic entrepreneurial training, or other relevant technical support to clients to assure their business viability and ongoing ability to successfully service their loans.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of customer relationships and the microfinance sector in Malawi.
  • High self-motivation and the discipline to plan work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • A solution-oriented outlook, exceptional integrity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly use of Excel for data analysis.
  • Knowledge of loan origination and credit risk management processes.
  • Ability to build sustainable relationships with customers and communities.
