The Malawi Orthopaedic Association (MOA) is a national, impartial, non-political, and non-profit advisory body dedicated to promoting quality orthopaedic care for all people in Malawi with neuromuscular skeletal deformities and injuries.
MOA supports orthopaedic research, education, and professional development for orthopaedic surgeons, orthopaedic clinical officers, prosthetic and orthotic technicians. The Association collaborates with both national and international partners to strengthen orthopaedic services and ensure efficient use of resources.
The Intern Media Officer will support the Malawi Orthopaedic Association in managing communication and media engagement activities. The intern will assist in maintaining the organization’s online presence, promoting MOA programmes and events, and supporting communication with stakeholders through various media platforms.
Responsibilities or duties
- Support development and dissemination of press releases and communication materials.
- Assist in managing MOA website and social media platforms.
- Develop multimedia content such as articles, photos, graphics, and short videos.
- Support promotion of MOA events and training activities.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with media houses and journalists.
- Monitor media coverage related to orthopaedic services and MOA activities.
- Assist with organizing virtual and physical meetings including Zoom management.
- Support brand visibility by ensuring consistent messaging across platforms.
- Perform other communication duties assigned by leadership.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of social media management and digital communication tools.
- Ability to create engaging content for different audiences.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills.
- Basic graphic design, photography or video editing is an added advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Interest in health communication and nonprofit work.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside standard working hours.
