Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Ltd is seeking applications for the position of:

LEAF CLASSIFIER – SEASONAL

Reporting directly to the Leaf Manager, key responsibilities for the successful candidate will among other things include the following:

Key responsibilities:

• Verify tobacco grades on the auction floors in accordance with company buying policies and product integrity standards.
• Ensure each bale of tobacco is assigned the correct grade based on plant position, quality, colour, and texture.
• Reject tobacco bales that do not meet company quality standards.
• Participate in crop assessments to evaluate expected production and quality.
• Assist in the distribution and estimation of tobacco production per field.
• Prepare and submit crop production estimates and reports to management.News

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

• Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
• A Diploma in Tobacco Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness or a related field will be an added advantage.
• At least 5 years’ experience in tobacco buying, leaf sales, or tobacco classification.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Computer literacy is required.

Tenable in Lilongwe, Malawi, the job offers a competitive pay and benefits package.

Level of Education: associate degree
