Nkhoma University is an institution of higher learning accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). The University has three campuses; two at Nkhoma, 15km off Kamphata Trading Centre, and one at Chigoneka in Area 47. Lecturer Early Child Development Master’s degree
Job Title: Lecturer - Early Child Development (ECD)
Reports To: Head of Education Department
Job Purpose:
To provide specialized training in Early Childhood Development, focusing on the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children from birth to age eight. The lecturer will prepare students to work in ECD centers and primary lower grades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialized Teaching: Deliver content on child growth milestones, play-based learning, early literacy, and numeracy.
- Curriculum for ECD: Develop age-appropriate teaching materials and resources tailored to the local context.
- Practicum Supervision: Supervise and assess students during their teaching practicums in ECD centers.
- Parental Engagement: Teach students effective strategies for engaging parents and caregivers in the learning process.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the importance of ECD within the community and educational policy.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Experience: Hands-on experience working with young children in a classroom or clinical setting is essential.
Skills & Competencies:
- Patience, creativity, and a nurturing disposition.
- Knowledge of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or similar ECD pedagogies.
- Strong observation and assessment skills.
