Background
Fr. Wongani Teachers Training Centre is a premier institution dedicated to shaping the future of Malawi’s primary education sector through quality teacher training. As we prepare to welcome the IPTE 21 cohort, the Centre invites applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated, and experienced individuals to join our academic team as Lecturers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lectures and practical sessions to IPTE 21 students in accordance with the national IPTE curriculum.
- Conduct continuous assessments, prepare examinations, and manage student grading.
- Supervise students during Teaching Practice (TP) in various primary schools.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to student teachers to ensure professional growth.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the college’s extracurricular activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Primary or Secondary) from a recognized university. Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Education will have a distinct advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience. Experience in a Teacher Training College (TTC) environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the Malawi IPTE curriculum and current trends in Primary Education.
- Registration: Must be registered with the Teacher Council of Malawi (where applicable).
Core Competencies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (English and Chichewa).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
- Proficiency in ICT (Microsoft Office suite and E-learning platforms).
Tenure and Remuneration
Successful candidates will be offered a competitive contract in line with the Centre’s salary scale and Malawian labor laws.
