Responsibilities or duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
- prepare and administer payroll for all KW Malawi staff
- administrative work such as banking, paying bills, preparing monthly expense reports, and managing all contract services
- lead all administrative functions for Blantyre and Lilongwe (remotely) offices
- train and support staff in creating payment requests and submitting well-organized receipts
- pay bills for program activities, which can be made remotely
- maintain and update registration with NGORA, MRA, Registrar General, and other entities
- ensure offices are stocked with necessary materials and supplies for daily use and periodic meetings
- oversee office maintenance and improvement projects
- track all KW-owned assets, including computers, vehicles, equipment, etc.
- stay up to date on changes that affect operations (labor laws, MRA, MASM, pension, etc.)
- manage security and grounds staff
- work with Malawi Field Lead to approve expenses while managing general budget
- provide HR support to Malawi Field Lead
- assist with monthly bookkeeping for regional KW projects, such as in Nigeria, Zambia, and Kenya
- work with the Africa Regional Director and Wisconsin-based Administration team on one process improvement project each quarter
- other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Characteristics:
- must demonstrate alignment with Kingdom Workers’ Statement of Faith
- degree (with more than 2 years of experience) in a relevant field (Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, etc.)
- demonstrated attention to detail in previous work experience and initiative to take on additional responsibilities
- more than 2 years of experience working on a multi-cultural decentralized team
- desire to learn and ability to apply learnings to improve organizational processes
- ability to participate in a work environment that fosters open and honest two-way communication
- ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and deliver quality results on time, while working on multiple projects simultaneously
- must possess strong communication skills
- must build strong working relationships with Wisconsin-based Administration team
- be comfortable with the use of technology and software programs
- have proven ability to work cross-culturally while building relationships and working collaboratively with others
Experience needed
more than 2 years of experience working on a multi-cultural decentralized team
Location and Travel Expectations:
- position is based in Blantyre
- work authorization in Malawi is required
- position is required to be on-site
- ability to travel occasionally
- ability to travel by road, air, or other means as may be encountered in a developing country
- ability to happily spend time and work in remote areas
- valid passport, or ability to obtain one, required
- valid driver’s license required
Other Conditions:
- frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and/or lift up to 30 pounds
- frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- continually required to talk and hear
- occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, including outdoor exposure
- occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
