Background
MASM Medi-Clinics Ltd is one of the leading health care providers in Malawi with medical clinics in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Zomba, and Mzuzu. The Clinics serve both medically insured and non insured patients and clients. In an effort to strengthen its technical capacity the Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following vacant position:
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements quality maternal and neonatal nursing care.
- Uses evidence-based approaches to improve maternal and neonatal nursing care.
- Documents and maintains records of neonatal and maternal care provided.
- Compiles reports and handover notes and share them with respective health care workers.
- Collaborates with other health care workers in meeting needs of patients under his/her care.
- Adheres to standard precautions of infection prevention and control measures.
- Participates in maternal and neonatal audits in the department.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Incidence rates of neonatal complications eg infections, Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy.
- Success rate in performing nursing procedures such as cannulation, feeding tube insertion.
- Rate of admission/readmission into neonatal HDU.
- Maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
- Rates of incomplete documentation of maternal and neonatal nursing care.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery with 3 years’ experience working in a Neonatal Unit.
- A Bachelor of Science in Child Health Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Neonatal Health would be an added advantage.
